This was very helpful. I had the same basic questions about doing Barn Hunt with my Nose Work dogs. I did meet someone at a Nose Work trial who did some Barn Hunt with her Border Collie. She said, over time, her BC lost interest because of the rats being kept away from her in the tubes etc. And I guess, it’s no food and no toys at Barn Hunt trials. I’ve wondered about how things go when a dog starts to realize that at Barn Hunt trials, there is no real reward for the finds. In Nose Work, we train how we compete – with food and/or toys at the competitions. This is one of the great things about Nose Work. The other big question of course, for nose work people, is if rewarding and encouraging crittering would become a problem for a nose work dog. I think that topic was covered well here. Thanks again. Very informative podcast.
